Frequently Asked Questions
We often find ourselves wondering, confused, and just searching for information. We need to actively search the Word of God for yourself.

Y.O.L.O (You Only Live Once)

YOLO! You only live once was being shouted and posted, and is still a way of living for many youth after being made popular through a rap artist, Drake. From memes to statues on facebook, YOLO stood for living how you want and doing what you want when you want with the justification being you only live once. Y.O.L.O has become the anthem of the youth. In a song by Lecrae titled No Regrets he says:

“that you gon’ live forever
Whether you want to or not
Some of us gon’ end up holy
Some of us gon’ end up hot…’

So do we really only live once on Earth and then that’s it? What we do now will have no impact later? YOLO - Is this something we really want to be professing?

What does God’s word say about Youth?

1 Timothy 4:12 ESV
Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

Ecclesiastes 11:9 ESV
Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

Jeremiah 1:4-8 ESV
Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.”

As youth we are to be examples, to enjoy are youth but understand that we are held accountable, and although we are young we can and will be used by God.

2 Timothy 2:22 ESV
So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

Discern, Perceive, and Belive

Does it mean you are a weak Christian when you reach out to other Christians when life's circumstances seem overwhelming?

First let me say always seek and follow God’s advice in everything you do. Even when seeking advice from others always check that it matches up with the word of God. Even after reading this make sure it lines up with the word before you apply it to your life.

Proverbs 19:20
New Living Translation
Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life.

No, it does not make you a weak Christian when you reach out to other Christians. The bible says “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Hebrews 3:13 says “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”

Encouragement is something we see over and over in the Bible because it is important to our walk.

My spiritual mother who is a mentor to me is someone who has taken special interest in my spiritual walk. She is there when I want to talk, she always has a word for me, and she always directs me to God. She teaches to pray when someone comes to you with problems and concerns. I think that is what you look for in a mentor or just a friend, someone who will pray for you instead of gossiping.

I don’t believe it makes you weak to come to a brother, sister, mother, father, etc. in Christ. When we are encouraged in Christ, we have strength to put on our spiritual armor and remain steadfast (Ephesians 6:10-18)

Jesus told His followers, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” John 16:33 Jesus is greater than all our circumstances, issues, troubles, doubts, and fears.
